My trial lessons are between 45 minutes and one hour. I start with a warm up of between 10 and 15 minutes so I can check your level. Next, we will talk about why you want to study English (conversation or business). After, we will study some phrases you can use; do drills (listen and repeat) to help you remember, and finally do a role play so you can use the phrases in a real situation. |

I taught English to Japanese learners between 2002 and 2008, so I know a lot of common mistakes that Japanese students make and good ways to help correct those mistakes. Between 2008 and 2016, I went to law school in the U.S. and worked as a lawyer for 4 years before returning to Yokohama in January 2016.
My teaching and legal experience allows me to help students study both conversational English and business English. I am also able to help with academic and business writing.
I hope to help serious students achieve goals such as studying abroad or going to graduate school in an English speaking country.

I study Japanese so completely understand what it is like to learn a new language. Studying Japanese helps me to be a better teacher.
During law school, I studied very hard and graduated 4th in my class. After graduating, I worked for four years as a lawyer and helped many Japanese clients with family law (divorce) and contracts. I really enjoyed helping Japanese clients because living in Japan helped me to become a professional.
My Japanese wife, son, and I returned to Japan in January 2016 so my son could grow up in a safe environment. He is the most important part of our lives so we want what is best for him. Because he is so important, it was an easy decision to close my law office and move back to Japan.

レッスンのやり方
My lessons are always designed specifically for the students I am teaching. The basic structure is a warm up, drills to help students remember new phrases, and then a conversation or role play for the student to try to use the new language.
I always write notes for students and never rush students. There are a lot of textbooks we can use such as SidebySide, Conversation Gambits, etc. Using newspaper and magazine articles is also a possibility.
