Nestling in a quiet residential community amidst pear orchards, shines and temples, my purpose built home-studio is ideal for hosting clients. Easily accessed from Shibuya (16 minutes drive) the nearest station is Saginuma on the Den-en-toshi Line. Car parking available. Lessons are also available in the quiet and delightful teaching lounge of the Sogetsu School close to Aoyama-itchome Station on the Hanzon and Ginza lines. Teaching in or near your office or home is often also possible. |

Your free trail lesson begins by exploring your goals, present and future context, challenges, needs and hopes. This forms an initial starting point from which we can begin to sketch out the first steps of our journey. You will have the opportunity to see my portfolio which will help you understand what differentiates my approach and the scope of my work. |

Virtual venues and hybrid meetings have tremendous potential for group discussion-led sessions. Since the beginning of 2020 I have been involved with an international network of creative facilitators exploring and developing on-line and hybrid events, meetings and processes. For individual clients online lessons are available. Clients requesting these sessions often have several challenging constraints and requirements such as limited time, re-schedule flexibility and vague goals. These issues need to be discussed frankly so that I can design the most effective sessions given your circumstances. It's essential to my methodology that the sessions are meaningful and useful beyond English even in difficult circumstances. |

Talking is an essential design skill, not just for clear communication but for facilitating shared exploration and concept creation, too.
In my practice I focus on supporting architects, product designers and other idea-led professionals who need to engage in dynamic, generative forms of communication with English speaking clients and collaborators.
My focus is not on content but process, providing clients with opportunities to practice collaborative exploration, ideation and generative dialogue within a supportive relationship. I also provide project and presentation support working with you collaboratively.

プロフィール•経歴
I was an advertising copywriter working on the iconic British brands Range Rover, Jaguar and Aga when a friend asked me to help her improve her university essays. She was a student nurse in danger of being thrown off her course. I helped her and caught the teaching bug.
In no time at all I found myself embarking on a new career as a writing coach, working with authors, academics and postgraduate students. That was two decades ago. Since moving to Japan I have become increasingly focused on working with creatives from a diverse and fascinating range of fields, exploring the creative process and developing my own identity as a venturous tutor.

In framing my practice as a tutor I would describe myself more as an event designer rather than a deliver of content. My work is focused on facilitating the English performance of my client’s insights, wisdom and creativity. I want to help clients extend their professional identity to include working creatively within an English linguistic environment.
What content I deliver tends to be improvised, responding to gaps or lack of awareness in the client’s performance. I bring my experience as a creative facilitator, writer and authorial writing coach into the work, positioning myself as a fellow creative, collaborative partner and expert resource. My hope is that multiple layers of learning take place in my lessons, providing clients with valuable, exciting and motivating experiences that are deeply rewarding and empowering.
